The biggest day by far is Labor Day weekend, when the Hatch Chile Festival draws thousands to a town of about 1,600. Come in spring or early summer if you'd rather skip the crowds.
How to Get to Hatch, New Mexico
Hatch sits just off I-25 in southern New Mexico, about a 40-minute drive north of Las Cruces, an hour from El Paso, Texas, and roughly three and a half hours south of Albuquerque. It makes an easy day trip from any of them, especially during harvest.
