I was pleased with the quality of the chiles when they arrived fresh. They were just beautiful! I have been a little disappointed with the inconsistency of the heat, but the customer service has been very responsive and I appreciate that.

So delicious! I love how the packaging is in multiple packs, it makes it easy to take one pound from the freezer at a time instead of one huge 5 or 10 pound pack. It's actually hot, too. However, next time I may get the extra hot... I love the burn!

These Chiles were superb. Large, firm and flavorful. No decay or softening. We made
The best Chile Rellenos and Chile pork stew. I wish I had ordered more.

Thank you so much Preston and your team! I upped my chili order from 20 pounds to 30 this year, as a replaced New Mexican, who had no access to Hatch Chili other than through your farm and website, I can say EXCELLENT service and product. Had to get a little creative to roast it, but done deal! Thank you so much! Green chili chicken enchiladas are in the oven as I am typing..... My winter with 6 ft. Of snow is bearable now! I recommend you order your chili stash now!

AS expected GREAT!! in all ways. My wife and her sister were born and raised in Albq. New Mexico and of Spanish descent and at 81 & 76 years they know there chile. They and their mother have tried other chilies but always fall back to Hatch Chile as the best. I found your prices including shipping to be extreemly high as I can get so called Hatch chile for $1.39 a lb. at our local farm stand about 5 miles from my house in Washington state. I only bought from you because I felt that I had a better chance of getting the real thing. You averaged with shipping a little over $6.00 a lb. The peppers were in excellent condition and of a nice size and the heat was as stated HOT

No peppers in the world come close to Hatch! The milds are so flavorful that even my wife who generally doesn't eat peppers thinks these are delicious! Flavor first- heat second. We love them roasted, BBQ or even raw in a salad!

These chili's were delicious. They were straight so it made it easier to roast and peel. I made green chili stew and the heat of the chili was perfect for us. They may be a little too hot for someone who is not used to hot chili. I can't get good chili here so pre ordering them is a great help.

I received the chilies in great shape. After roasting I tried the Sandia Hot and was extremely disappointed in the lack of flavor. The Chile had no taste at all. I ordered 10 pounds of the hot and another 10 of medium, my plan was to combine these to create a mild to spicy blend. After tasting the hot I doubt whether the medium will have much if any flavor.
I called on Sept. 1 to advise of my dissapointment in taste; they immediately advised they would gladly send another 10 pounds and apologized for the inconvience. All without having to ask for anything. Terrific customer service! I will definitely use them again.

My order of your Big Jim's was so much better than last year's which is an indicator of better weather for growing this year. Consistent size in length with thick, meaty walls made for this roasting. I have been ordering chilies every year since moving the Midwest. I have tried other places in the Hatch area....there is no doubt that Hatch chilies have their own distinct flavor.....but the Hatch Chile Store has provided a great, consistent product and outstanding customer service that others have fallen short on.
One of the tangible things that I miss about New Mexico is the wafting aroma of roasting chilies down through the Rio Grande valley so each year that I get my chilies from you, it's not just good taste but a memory maker. Without a tumbler, my sons and I have used the grill in the past but invested in a propane weed burner. So, here in Missouri, last year I had some neighbors wondering what the heck the noise was and what we were doing. This year, we ended up with a crowd of new neighbors who followed the aroma and sound.... it's either that or the word got out that I stop by later with jars of homemade salsa made with the Big Jim's! So, around midnight last night, I pulled the last of the jars from the canner.....it is, by the way, delicious. I have enough to last a while and my freezer filled with roasted chilies.
Both varieties I got this year were exceptional in color and flavor. It appears that weather in New Mexico was perfect this year.
Thank you for the great product and service.

I got Joe Parker's with my Big Jim's. As is the nature of the beast, Joes are smaller and more compact. This order was meatier than that of last year's but that was the result of the difference in weather, I'm sure.
The heat and flavor has been what I was hoping for. Between roasting, canning and packaging for the freezer, I made burritos and green chile stew......there are no left overs.... now isn't that a commentary on it's own? Although my Midwestern neighbors were sweating and tearing up, my family and I found the heat and flavor exceptional.
A great product and service!
Thank you,

Some of the Chile had no heat to it at all. It was fairly tasteless. I am not sure what went wrong. The Chile arrived in beautiful condition and I roasted them on the grill. Sometimes when the Chile is roasting, and I get a breath of the "fumes", it will make me cough. It never happened with this batch. I made salsa and had to keep adding more and more of the Chile's to get any flavor. I would rate this order as mild to medium with very little medium.

I called and asked for a specific delivery date because I was going to be out of town. The new delivery date was confirmed. However they were shipped on original date and will sit and rot on my doorstep. I called and they said they will send me a new box free of charge. If this happens I will change this to VERY GOOD.

I preordered Big Jim chiles and they are very good quality--large, ripe and fresh. The price is about the same as I would pay at my local grocery, however, I think these are fresher.

Though I marked the "Good" box, I would rate the overall product as somewhere between good and very good. The majority of the chile were in very good condition. There were some that were dried out and wrinkled and a little tough, but most of those were the smaller ones. There were some that had the stems broken off. That in itself does not affect the quality of the chile other than the end became dried out and makes for a little more difficulty when making chile rellenos.
Aside from the above minor cons above, the chile is fresh, firm, meaty and ohhh, so very delicious. Would I recommend this chile and its company to others and would I order again......ABSOLUTELY.
Yes, it costs more to buy chile online. But I have lived in New Mexico and experienced the unique flavor of the Hatch chile......there is nothing like it. So for me, it is worth it to have them shipped to Oregon where I now live. I have eaten chile from Kentucky, to Arkansas, to California, to Oregon and nowhere have I found anything better than an original Hatch chile from New Mexico and this merchant.
Thank you again for satisfying my Hatch Chile Fix.

Two ten pound boxes came with not one pepper damaged or going bad. Amazing! This is my third year of ordering. There is no doubt that getting these peppers fresh from NM is worth it. The flavor of the peppers is superb. I have already roasted, cleaned and frozen my batch for use now and through the year.

We found the store online and decided to give them a shot. We were a little unsure if / when everything would arrive, but we were pleasantly surprised when we found the box on our front door step. The quality and flavor of the chiles are excellent. We made a few batch of pork green chile immediately, and we couldn't be happier. For the price, it's a great deal and the convenience of having them delivered to our front door is wonderful. We will definitely order again next year.

Our mild green chili arrived as promised in perfect condition. We had it shipped 2 day air and every single chili pod was perfect. It's been roasted and frozen now for use all year long. The flavor is sweet and tasty and the roasting fragrance was heaven!! Thank you for excellent quality!!

Hey guys, just received my shipment of the 50lbs medium hot & 10lbs of the hot. This is my 3rd year ordering from you and I have to tell you, I'm extremely disappointed with what I received. The hot chile, no issues at all. The medium hot, just flat out terrible. There are no real green pods, they all have a yellow tint to them, and most have wrinkled skin, just awful & pathetic looking. I'm attaching pictures. Don't know how you would try to pass this off as anything stellar to what you describe on your website. I'm hoping this was an error batch that perhaps was an oversight to have even been allowed to ship out. I paid the express 2 day just to avoid this...I really hope to hear from someone soon. (I originally emailed this to your contact email listed on your website with pictures on Friday and used my [redacted email])

Looks great! Long and girthy (I know that sounds perverted), but I can't wait to make chili rellenos. Relatively pricy, but these are not available where I live so take what you can get.
